About
This automated test manually operates the Electronic Fuel Control (EFC) Actuator to verify its proper functionality. The test runs for a maximum of 60 seconds.
Test Procedure
Prepare the System
- Attach the PC or laptop to a running engine in a stationary vehicle or ensure the engine is stopped with the key switch in the ON position.
Select the Test
- Choose EFC Actuator Override Test from the list in the ECM Diagnostic Tests Wizard (refer to Figure 1.1).
- Click Next to open the EFC Actuator Override window.

Review Messages
- Note any messages or warnings in the Instructions box.
Initiate the Test
- Click Start.
- Use the checkbox in the Commanded Actuator Position box to Open or Close the actuator.

Stop the Test
- Click Stop to end the test.

Perform Additional Actions
- Click Back to conduct a different test if needed.
Observing Test Results
- After Steps 5 and 6, review the Status and Current Parameters panels to verify the actuator’s performance.
- Open Data Monitor/Logger from the Viewbar.
- Monitor the Fuel Pump Actuator parameters in the Data Monitor/Logger tool.

Initial Check
Ensure that the lift pump is functional before proceeding.
Measurement
Measure the resistance of the Electronic Fuel Control (EFC) actuator valve:
- Minimum Resistance: 0.1 ohms
- Maximum Resistance: 5 ohms
