The INSITE Audit Trail keeps track of changes made to ECM settings.
The Audit Trail window shows records of the last four times the ECM was modified.
→ Some ECMs may show fewer than four records.
A new Audit Trail record is created 20 minutes after the last parameter change, based on ECM time.
A single record can include multiple changes because the 20-minute timer captures all changes made within that period.
Opening and Closing the Audit Trail Window:
1). Connect the diagnostic adapter tool (Nexiq USB-Link) to the diagnostic port on a Cummins Engine or ECM Image.
2). Click Audit Trail on the Viewbar (see Figure 1.1 above).
Each Audit Trail record contains various data points.
Use the “+” and “-” icons in the Audit Trail window to expand or collapse record details.
You can also use the Right-Click Menu for additional options.

Right-Click Options:
- a) Expand – Expands all Audit Trail records.
- b) Collapse – Collapses all Audit Trail records.
- c) Refresh:
→ All – Updates the Audit Trail window with the latest ECM data. (Grayed out if no ECM is connected.)
→ Selected ECM – Updates data only for the selected ECM. (If only one ECM is in use, this option is also grayed out.)
- d) Print – Prints the Audit Trail data using the default printer.
→ Note: If multiple ECMs are in use, Audit Trail records are grouped by module.

Record Number
A unique identifier for each Audit Trail record.
A single record can include multiple ECM changes, which can be expanded or collapsed.
Tool Name
The name of the tool used to modify ECM settings.
Tools may include ECHEK, Compulink, VEPS, PowerSpec, DAVIE, or INSITE.
If INSITE cannot detect the tool, it will display Unknown Software.
Tool ID / Code
The serial number of the cartridge (for ECHEK, VEPS, and Compulink).
OR an alphanumeric identifier for the software (INSITE, DAVIE, or PowerSpec).
This number is automatically retrieved from the ECM.
User Type / Description
The category of tool used to modify ECM settings:
→ Software (INSITE, DAVIE, PowerSpec).
→ Cartridge (ECHEK, VEPS, Compulink).
Expanding an Audit Trail record provides a brief description of each ECM change.
